CHESSIE BLIGH AND THE SCROLL OF ANDELTHOR has lots of spells.  One of the spells occurs when the evil Elf Wizard Nictus turns poor Penelope Waxworth and Marge Grimsneed into an Iamassu.  Stone statues that are part lion, eagle and human (or in Pen and Marge's case . . .Elf).

Its up to the Elf Wizards of Die Sterntaler, (otherwise known as The Stargazer) to turn them back into Elves.  While all this chaos is evolving, Chessie runs away from home.  On her overseas journey to a high society school where she is supposed to cozy up to the Prince, instead,  she switches places with a youngling named Aelyn.  Within hours she is taken to Die Sterntaler.  Here she discovers the magic and mystery of Elves.

Chessie makes friends with Gareth, Robert, and David.  Three other younglings brought to Die Sterntaler to learn about spells and magic.  Chessie can't believe her luck.  But now she worries that her mother will find out about her switch and force her to go back to school.  With time running out she works together with the boys to try and find the lost continent and land of the Elves, Antelantiesse.  She sneaks into the astonishing library at Sterntaler.  A place so big, so full of rare books, scrolls and parchments she becomes enraptured with it.

Soon she and the boys are busy learning magic spells to unlock clues that will uncover the hidden land.  You see the Elves have used their magical powers to make it invisible!

So intent upon finding the lost kingdom of the Elves, Chessie is unaware she's being watched.  Nictus, an evil Elf Wizard lurks in the shadows hoping to capture Chessie and Wuggbert the moment they become unattended.  He knows who Chessie is . . . the heir to Andelthor.  If Nictus can capture her, he can seize the throne and crown himself as Lord of the Elves.

Can Chessie and Wuggbert survive the attack?  Will she find clues in the library's books to show her how to find her way to Antelantiesse?

Here is one of the spells Petrovna casts to reveal the location of a mysterious room in the library where precious artifacts lay hidden:

Petrovna is one of the Elf Wizards who teaches Chessie and the others what they are capable of.  She has a magical flying horse!  I'd tell you more . . . but I don't want to give too much of the story away!
