Thora
was born in a little town in Illinois on a warm day in August. Her
parents were hoping for a boy, but hey, at least they didn’t get
an alien from outer space. I was the youngest of three in a
rural part of America that is fading from the scene. The family
farm.
My dad worked on the farm while my mother raised us kids and
worked at the nearby hospital. Living on a farm is lots of
fun. You can raise your own zoo! I had lambs and colts being
born in the spring. WOW! What a wonderful life. I began my
imaginative career by riding my horse Topsy in the woods and
pretending I was an Elf. . . . . a wizard Elf. I could shape
shift, fly up into trees, change the weather, and fight evil
wizards that were lurking about behind bushes.
Then I got older. Well, life has a way of rearranging your plans. My plan was to
become an Elf Wizard and run my own kingdom. That's when a job and a
mortgage woke me out that dream. I did get to run my own
tractor, do my own house cleaning, wash my own car, and hang out
my own laundry on the clothesline. In the meantime, my two
boys were busy riding their dirt bikes. Then when I
moved from Illinois to California, THAT’S when things started
happening. I started hiking in the nearby mountains and canyons
and fell in love with the wilderness. I haven’t looked back
once. Well, I take that back, I had to look back a couple of
times when I was hiking in order to figure out where the heck I was. It is an important
part of navigation. . . . . landmarks. Keeps you from getting
lost. By the way, if you run into any trolls while you're
out hiking and they offer to give you directions, don't believe
them. Trolls love it when you get lost. Plus they
like to
send you to creepy places like. . . muddy bogs, stinky slews,
and mosquito infested swamps.
I hope you enjoy
Chessie Bligh and the Scroll of Andelthor. It
is the first of many books in the series to come.
Kindest Regards,
Thora
Gabriel
